South Africa beat Australia under the leadership to Temba Bavuma to win the ICC WTC 2023-25 final.

South Africa Cricket Team skipper Temba Bavuma talked about the win against the Australian Cricket Team in the final of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25. He dropped an emotional statement, saying that the sun is finally on them after a lot of heartaches and disappointments.

Under the leadership of Temba Bavuma, South Africa scripted history as they won their first International Cricket Council (ICC) trophy in 27 years. They defeated Australia by five wickets at the Lord’s Cricket Ground in London.

Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to field first. The bowlers made sure that his decision paid off as they bundled out Australia for just 212 runs, with Kagiso Rabada taking a fifer. However, things didn’t work in their favour with the bat in the first innings.

South Africa got all out for 138, conceding a lead of 74 runs. However, bowlers yet again brought them back in the game as they didn’t let Australia go big, ending their innings at 207. In the chase of 282, the Proteas then came up with a brilliant batting effort.

Aiden Markram (136) slammed a blistering ton, while Temba Bavuma (66) also played a brilliant hand. Wiaan Mulder (27) and David Bedingham (21*) also played decent hands as South Africa chased the target with five wickets in hand.

Talking about the win, South Africa skipper Temba Bavuma said that it has been a special week for them, highlighting how they have gone through several heartbreaks, but the sun is on them now. Speaking to broadcasters, he said:

“It has been a special couple of days, felt like we were back home in South Africa with the support we have had. Special moment for us as a team, special moment back home, will take a couple of days to sink in.

“The energy was there, we have been wanting this as a team, we have been knocking on the door, we have gone through the heartache, the disappointments, seen it with the past players and the sun is on us.”

Hopefully this is one of many – Temba Bavuma

Temba Bavuma made a strong statement, saying that this is one of many ICC titles for them. He also lavished rich praise on Kagiso Rabada and Aiden Markram for their heroics in the game.

“Hopefully this is one of many. KG is a massive player, in a couple of years he will be in the ICC Hall of Fame. He was under controversy but he did what he does. Markram was unbelievable, stats are important but character is what we look at and Aiden has that.”

“Another massive player for us. Us a team we got ourselves into the final, there were doubters with the route we took, supposedly beating weaker teams. This is for them. I’m sure the people back home will be celebrating,” he concluded.
