Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli recently declared their retirement from test cricket.
A new era for the Indian Cricket Team in tests is set to begin. Due to the recent retirements of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from the format, 25-year-old Shubman Gill has taken over as captain. On June 20, the Shubman Gill-led team will play their first test match at Headingley to begin the campaign.
Also missing from the forthcoming tour are Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who recently declared their retirement from test cricket. The decision infuriated the supporters, who concluded that the Indian team’s lack of star power would prevent test cricket from drawing the same number of spectators to the stadium.
The Indian Cricket Team arrived in London following a flight from Mumbai via Dubai, where they started training under new strength and conditioning coach Adrian le Roux. Soham Desai, who resigned after winning two ICC titles in the previous year, is replaced by the South African.
Players were shown practising drills and adjusting to English conditions in a BCCI video that was made public on June 8. In preparation for the crucial series, the squad will play a warm-up match against India A in Beckenham on June 13 before the first test.
England-India Test series tickets sold out despite Rohit-Kohli’s absence in Indian team
According to the most recent news from Revsportz, the supporters are purchasing tickets in large quantities despite Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma’s absence from England. Additionally, there are very few tickets left for day four at Headingley, Edgbaston, and all five test matches are almost completely sold out.
“This is a welcome sign because the news of Virat and Rohit not coming could have impacted ticket sales. That they continue to be robust is a welcome sign for the format. Tickets aren’t cheap. And that’s the best part of it.
People want to watch the Indians play, and if they are competitive, the limited tickets that are left will also sell out. With Bazball, you expect batting wickets, and that’s where you are assured of crowds. India will also bat well and you will have a packed house in every venue”, said two British scribes to Revsportz.
According to sources from the ECB, this is the status of the ticket sales:
Friday 20- Tuesday 24 June – Headingley (Only Day 4 tickets remain)
Wednesday 2-Sunday 6 July – Edgbaston (Only Day 4 tickets remain)
Thursday 10- Monday 14 July – Lord’s (Multiple days sold out)
Wednesday 23-Sunday 27 July – Emirates Old Trafford (Limited tickets remaining for days 2 & 3)
Thursday 31 July-Monday 4 August – Kia Oval (Only Day 5 tickets remain)
