India are set to clash with Afghanistan in a one-off Test match. The encounter will commence on June 6 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.
Shubman Gill is set to lead India in the match. India will be looking to bounce back after their horrific series defeat against South Africa at home last year. While the IND vs AFG Test is not part of the World Test Championship, it will help India prepare for the upcoming Test series.
Manav Suthar, Harsh Dubey, and Gurnoor Brar are three new faces in India’s squad. Key members like KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Mohammed Siraj, Prasidh Krishna, and Kuldeep Yadav are part of the campaign.
Sai Sudharsan and Devdutt Padikkal are looking to make a comeback in the series. Both played in the top order and impressed with their performances in the recent IPL 2026. Padikkal also made a mark with his batting in the Ranji Trophy earlier this year.
Notably, this is the second test between India and Afghanistan. The previous game took place in 2018, where India crushed Afghanistan by an innings and 262 runs.

The one-off test between India and Afghanistan will commence on June 6 at 9 AM IST with the toss. The first session will take place from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. There will be a 40-minute lunch break.
The 2nd session will take place from 12:10 PM to 2:10 PM, followed by a 20-min tea break. The final session will be played from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM. An additional 30 minutes is also given to complete the day’s quota of overs.
