Top 5 batsmen quickest to reach 4000 runs in IPL
KL Rahul became 14th batsman to score 4000 runs in the IPL, But the fastest to do so in just 105 innings.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) skipper, KL Rahul added another milestone to his name when he became the quickest batter to reach 4000 runs in IPL, going past Chris Gayle who did so in 112 innings. KL Rahul achieved the feat in just 105 innings against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in match no. 21 of IPL 2023. The LSG captain crossed the mark when he reached 30 against PBKS in his 105th innings in the IPL.
KL Rahul is also the second-quickest to reach 3000 IPL runs (80 innings) behind Gayle. Rahul is also the fastest Indian to 2000 runs in the IPL (60 innings), a feat he achieved in 2020 when he surpassed Sachin Tendulkar (63 innings). Additionally, Rahul also completed 2000 runs as captain in the IPL, having previously led Punjab for two seasons in 2020 and 2021.
KL Rahul's stats in IPL speaks for itself. Having played for a few franchises in IPL, KL Rahul has never looked back after the 2018 season, his best season in terms of runs. In 2018 he amassed 659 runs and since then he has never failed to score over 500 runs in a single season of IPL. The stylish batter will also look to extend his dominant run in IPL 2023.

5. AB de Villiers - 131 innings
One of the veterans of the league, AB de Villiers is one of the most successful overseas players in the history of IPL. Also called Mr. 360, ABD is well-known for his power-hitting skills. AB de Villiers started off his IPL career with the then-known Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) in 2008 and was with the franchise till 2010.
After joining the RCB forces in 2011, AB de Villiers changed the face of the game with his batting prowess. Having one of the best seasons in 2016, AB de Villiers scored 687 runs - the most for him in a single season. It was in IPL 2019 when AB de Villiers reached the milestone. In the process, he became the third overseas batter to complete 4000 runs in IPL.
4. Virat Kohli - 128 innings
Another RCB's mainstay, Virat Kohli has been with the franchise since the inception of the league in 2008. The only player in the history of the league to play for a single franchise, Virat Kohli has done wonders with the bat for the franchise. The orange cap holder in 2016, Kohli had one of the greatest seasons ever of all-time. 973 runs in a single season - most by any batter in a single season, Virat Kohli holds this record true to his name. With four centuries to his name in 2016, Kohli managed to take his team to the final of IPL 2016 only to lose against SRH.
It was the same year in 2016 when Kohli achieved this feat. In his innings of 113 against Kings XI Punjab, he became the first batter to complete 4000 runs in the IPL.
3. David Warner - 114 innings
The now Delhi Capitals captain, David Warner is third on the list. The three-time orange cap holder, David Warner is one of the most successful batters in the IPL. Ever since joining the SRH franchise, David Warner's career took a big leap. In years to come after his appointment as the SRH captain, David tasted a lot of success.
In the year 2017, leading the SRH side, opener David Warner brought up his 4000 runs in the Indian Premier League in the IPL Eliminator against Kolkata Knight Riders at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
2. Chris Gayle - 112 innings
Just two innings less than David Warner, Chris Gayle became the then-fastest batter to reach 4000 runs in IPL in the year 2019. The whole world is well-versed with the hitting abilities of the Universe Boss. After joining RCB in 2011, Gayle along with Virat and AB de Villiers took the league by storm with their batting skills. Season after season, Gayle produced a plethora of runs for the franchise, the best being in 2012 where he scored 733 runs.
In the first game of the 2019 edition, Gayle came up with a brilliant knock against the Rajasthan Royals. The left-hander struck eight fours and four maximums on his way through to a 47-ball 79. In the process, he ticked off the milestone of 4000 runs in the IPL.
1. KL Rahul - 105 Innings:
The latest incumbent to the list of the quickest batters to complete 4000 runs in IPL is KL Rahul who achieved the feat in just 105 innings in IPL 2023 while playing against his former team, Punjab Kings. The LSG skipper has gone past the likes of Chris Gayle, Virat Kohli, and AB de Villiers amongst others to become the fastest batter and added this feather to his hat.
Rahul made his IPL debut with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013 and spent two seasons with the Sunrisers Hyderabad before a return to RCB. While he missed out on the 2017 season, Rahul returned with a bang in 2018 with Punjab, scoring 659 runs, averaging 54.91 besides a staggering 158.41 strike rate. Rahul compiled 593 runs in 2019 before completing three successive seasons with 600-plus runs.
Batting in the first innings of match 21 against Punjab Kings in IPL 2023, KL Rahul played a brilliant knock of 74 runs off 56 balls to help his team reach a respectable total. In the process, he went past all the batters in the list already to become the quickest one to reach 4000 runs in the IPL.
