Umran Malik has bowled the fastest delivery by an Indian bowler in the IPL.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has taken the world by storm, and since its inception, a lot has changed in the T20 format of the game. The IPL has become one of the biggest sporting tournaments on this planet, which brings every best player to feature in this competition. However, fans love the IPL because T20 cricket is the most popular format, and the IPL brings the best players to play together.

Everyone likes a batter hitting sixes and fours. But when a bowler crosses the speed of 150 km/h, there is no better sight than that. Over the years, almost all the extreme fast bowlers have played in the IPL, and fans have witnessed some of the fastest deliveries in the game. The likes of Shoaib Akhtar, Breet Lee, Shaun Tait, Mitchell Johnson, and many others showed their speeds. And here we will talk about the top five fastest deliveries in IPL history.

5. Anrich Nortje – 156.2 Kmph

South African quick Anrich Nortje is one of the fastest bowlers at the international level. He made his name with this speed and accuracy. He made his IPL debut in 2020 for Delhi Capitals and started with a bang. DC made it to the finals, and he took 22 wickets for them. In that season, he bowled three deliveries at a speed of more than 154 kmph. His fastest IPL ball was 156.22 kmph, which he bowled to Jos Buttler.

4. Mayank Yadav – 156.7 Kmph

The 21-year-old pacer from West Delhi, Mayank Yadav, is the talk of the town in the IPL 2024. He is representing Lucknow Super Giants and made his debut against Punjab Kings. He caught the eye with his rare pace. In his first two games, he took six wickets, and most of his wickets came off quick bouncers. He had already recorded three balls with a speed of over 155 kmph in his first two matches. His fastest ball of 156.7 kmph, which was bowled against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in match no. 15, is now the fourth-fastest overall.

3. Umran Malik – 157 kmph

Umran Malik made his IPL debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2021, but his breakthrough season came in 2022 when he took 22 wickets for SRH in the tournament and was causing problems for opposition batters with his speed. In that season, he bowled two deliveries, clocking over a speed of 155 kmph. However, his fastest delivery at a speed of 157 kmph came against Delhi Capitals’ Rovman Powell.

2. Lockie Ferguson – 157.3 kmph

Umran Malik recorded the fastest ball in IPL 2022 at a speed of 157 kmph. But his record was broken in the final between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals at Narendra Modi Stadium. GT’s pacer Lockie Ferguson bowled a ball at 157.3 kmph to RR’s opener Jos Buttler to record the second-fastest IPL delivery of all time. He also bagged the award for the fastest delivery of that season.

1. Shaun Tait – 157.71 kmph

The fastest delivery in the IPL until now was recorded in the 2011 edition. It was the former Australian speedster Shaun Tait who bowled that ball. Notably, Tait has also clocked 100 mph at the international level, which is very rare. He was one of the fastest bowlers to play this game. He delivered a ball at 157.71 kmph against Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals) while playing for for the Rajasthan Royals, which is the fastest delivery ever in the history of IPL. Aaron Finch faced that ball.
