After Chris Lynn and Matt Short set up a strong total for the Strikers, Stoinis turned the game on its head with an unbeaten 55 off just 19 balls, well supported by Beau Webster’s composed 66. His late onslaught, including a decisive final burst, transformed a challenging chase into a commanding Stars victory in front of a packed Adelaide Oval crowd.
4. Hobart Hurricanes chase 210 against Brisbane Heat (2013)

Hobart Hurricanes pulled off one of the most remarkable chases in Big Bash League history as they hunted down a daunting target of 210 against Brisbane Heat at the Gabba with four balls to spare.
Ben Dunk led the charge with a blistering 67 off 33 balls, including the fastest fifty in BBL history at the time, while Jonathan Wells’ calm unbeaten 36 kept the chase alive. A dramatic final over, finished by an unlikely Ben Hilfenhaus, sealed a stunning three wicket victory and underlined the unpredictability of T20 cricket.
3. Hobart Hurricanes chase 223 against Melbourne Renegades (2016-17)

Hobart Hurricanes pulled off a dramatic last-ball victory to complete a record chase of 223 against Melbourne Renegades in the 2016–17 Big Bash League, winning by two wickets at Docklands Stadium. Ben McDermott starred with a sensational 114, the first century of the season, while George Bailey’s vital 59 kept the chase alive.
With 16 needed off the final over, Stuart Broad smashed Thisara Perera for consecutive boundaries, and pinched a single off the last ball, to seal one of the most thrilling chases in BBL history.
2. Adelaide Strikers chase 230 against Hobart Hurricanes (2022-23)

Adelaide Strikers pulled off the second-highest successful run chase in Big Bash League history as they overhauled a daunting target of 230 against Hobart Hurricanes in Adelaide. Stand-in captain Matthew Short led from the front with a magnificent unbeaten 100 off 59 balls, while Chris Lynn’s explosive 64 provided put opposition under pressure.
Despite Hurricanes posting a record total, Short’s composure under pressure sealed a seven wicket win with three balls to spare, producing one of the most memorable chases in BBL history.
1. Brisbane Heat chase 258 against Perth Scorchers (2025-26)

Brisbane Heat scripted one of the most extraordinary run chases in T20 history by overhauling a daunting 258-run target against Perth Scorchers at the Gabba, registering the highest successful chase in Big Bash League history and the third-highest overall in T20 cricket.
Jack Wildermuth led the charge with a stunning unbeaten 110 off 54 balls, while Matt Renshaw played a fearless supporting role with a blistering 102 off 51 deliveries, as the Heat defied odds that once seemed impossible.
Earlier, Perth Scorchers had looked firmly in control after Finn Allen and Cooper Connolly smashed attacking fifties to power their side to a massive 257 for six. However, Brisbane’s record-breaking 212-run second-wicket partnership between Renshaw and Wildermuth turned the contest on its head, in a six-hitting spectacle that featured a record 36 maximums.
