Top five key battles to watch out for in IND vs CAN match No. 33 in ICC T20 World Cup 2024
The IND vs CAN clash at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 will take place on Saturday in Florida.
Team India were the first team from Group A to qualify for the Super 8 round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. They have registered three consecutive wins and showed why they are considered one of the favourites to win the title. India will play their last group match on Saturday,
They will face Canada in match No. 33 at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida. India will look to carry on the momentum and win this game. They could also give chances to the players who haven’t played a game so far.
Canada have one win in three games. Their standing will be affected by results in the other two remaining matches of Group A.
IND vs CAN: Head-to-Head
Until now, these two teams have not played T20I against each other. On Saturday, they will lock horns for the first time in T20Is.
IND vs CAN: Top five player battles to watch out for
1. Rohit Sharma vs Kaleem Sana
Rohit Sharma has had a mixed tournament so far. He started with a fifty against Ireland but then failed in the next two matches. However, the batting conditions in Florida will be better than they were in New York and Rohit will look to get back into a six-hitting spree before the Super 8.
However, one area that he might find challenging will be facing Kaleem Sana. Rohit apparently has a slight weakness against left-arm pacers bowling with the new ball on his pads. Kaleem can target that line and can also swing the new ball. He will certainly pose a challenge to the Indian captain.
2. Virat Kohli vs Saad Bin Zafar
It has been a horrific start to the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 for Virat Kohli. The former Indian captain has registered three consecutive single-digit scores and is coming off a golden duck against the USA. One more low score will certainly put him under immense pressure before the Super 8.
He will be up against Canadian captain Saad Bin Zafar, who is a left-arm finger-spinner, which Virat finds a bit tough to attack. Saad has bowled well in this tournament, managing an economy rate of 7.25. He doesn’t rely on turn and bowls wicket-to-wicket with a change of pace to trouble the batters.
3. Suryakumar Yadav vs Dillon Heyliger
Suryakumar Yadav registered an important half-century against the USA and was emphatic towards the end of his knock. He would be feeling confident and would be looking to take that form into this game. He is a free-flowing batter and the conditions in Florida will be better for batting, which SKY will enjoy.
However, he will have to face Canada’s best bowler in the competition, Dillon Heyliger. Heyliger hits the pitch hard to generate extra bounce. He has five wickets in three games at a brilliant economy rate of 5. Heyliger has caused problems for the batters in the middle overs, and he could challenge Suryakumar in the IND vs CAN clash.
4. Aaron Johnson vs Arshdeep Singh
Aaron Johnson smashed a brilliant half-century against Pakistan. He was the only Canadian batter who got going in that game. He will be confident after that knock in tough conditions. He will aim to give his team a good start against India.
But for him, a major threat will be Arshdeep Singh, who is coming off a Man of the Match performance against the USA. He has a knack of picking up early wickets and brings the ball into right-handers. That’s where he can trouble Aaron Johnson in this game.
5. Nicholas Kirton vs Jasprit Bumrah
Nicholas Kirton has been Canada’s best batter in the ongoing tournament. He has scored 101 runs at an average of 33.66 and a strike rate of 140.27 in this competition. He has consistently scored runs for his team in the last year. Kirton is an attacking batter who likes to take on the bowlers from the onset of his innings.
But can he do it against Jasprit Bumrah? That will be the big question. Bumrah is at the top of his game. He is someone who doesn’t need much help from the pitch to trouble batters. It will be a great contest between India’s best bowler and Canada’s best batter.
