Defending U19 Asia Cup champions Bangladesh began their campaign against Afghanistan on Saturday. They started the tournament on a high, beating Afghanistan in a close-fought game by 3 wickets. Their next match is set to be played on Monday, December 15, against Nepal at the Seven Stadium in Dubai. So far, Bangladesh have won the title twice, having last emerged victorious last year beating India in the finals.
Mohammad Azizul Tamim-led side is filled with players who excel across all facets of the game and they will be among the favourites to win the tournament.
Bangladesh’s first U19 Asia Cup win came in 2023 and will be looking to get in prime form with the bat and ball in the ongoing event, which will help them prepare for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026.

5-Shariar Ahmed
Left-arm spinner Shahriar Ahmed was at his best with the ball in the game against Afghanistan. The 19-year-old bowled eight overs and picked two wickets for 43 runs. Shahriar, taking the wickets of Uzairullah Niazi and then got the key scalp of skipper Mahboob Khan for 13 runs. The 19-year-old kept the pressure on the Afghan batters throughout the game whenever he was asked to bowl. He will be key to carry that same form and help his team win U19 Asia Cp 2025.
4- Saad Islam Razin
Bangladeshi pacer Saad Islam Razin has been touted as a talented bowler for the future by many experts. The 18-year-old seamer bowled nine overs and picked of Afghanistan opener Osman Sadat for 34 runs, starting the tournament on a high. Islam Razin bowled with decent pace and moved the new ball to put the opposition batters under pressure. In the latter half of the game, the seamer came back with precision filled bowling in the death overs. He will be a valuable asset going ahead in the tournament.
3- Iqbal Hossain Emon
Young Iqbal Hossain Emon is one of the most talented pacers to emerge in recent times. The 19-year-old bowls with good speeds and can move the ball off the wicket in the early part of the game. Emon has already played some domestic cricket and is considered a very good bowler in the white ball format. The 19-year-old has already picked 13 wickets in the last three Youth ODI’s which includes two fifers.
2- Mohammad Azizul Hakim Tamim
Skipper Hakim Tamim has been in decent form leading up to the U19 Asia Cup 2025. The left-handed batter scored a century in the home series against Afghanistan recently. The 18-year-old has also played domestic cricket across all formats and has already scored a century in the List A format and averages 34 with the bat.

Right-handed batter Zawad Abrar is called one of the most exciting emerging talents with the bat in Bangladesh. The right-hander is known for his aggressive batting and made his List A debut earlier this year. He played a brilliant innings of 96 against Afghanistan in their tournament opener The youngster has scored 330 runs in 50-over format at a strike-rate of over 95 and and average of 33 to showcase his talents and skills with the bat in hand.
