India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the final to win ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India defeated New Zealand by four wickets in the summit clash to win the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. With this win, they clinched their third Champions Trophy title, becoming the most successful team in tournamentโ€™s history, surpassing Australiaโ€™s tally of two.

India had been the best team in the tournament, winning all five games in the competition. They defeated Bangladesh, Pakistan, and New Zealand in the group stage before edging past Australia in the semi-finals.

After being asked to bowl first, the Men in Blue displayed great control to restrict New Zealand to 251 in the first innings. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy starred for India, picking up two wickets each, while Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

Daryl Mitchell top-scored for the Kiwis with 63 off 101 balls. Michael Bracewell applied the finishing touch to the innings with a quickfire 53 off 40 balls, propelling the Blackcaps to 251.

In reply, India started the chase excellently, reaching the 100-run mark without losing a wicket in the 18th over. New Zealand missed the services of Matt Henry with the new ball as the speedster was ruled out of the game due to a shoulder injury he sustained in the semi-finals.

The game took a dramatic turn during the middle overs as India lost three quick wickets, slipping from 105/0 to 122/3. Spinners Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, and Rachin Ravindra bowled excellently, combining for five wickets in the game.

Rohit Sharma top-scored with 76, while Shreyas Iyer contributed 48 runs. KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya held their nerve towards the end, adding 38 runs for the fifth wicket. Ravindra Jadeja scored the winning runs in the 49th over to cap off an excellent campaign for India.
