Indian Cricket Team and South Africa Cricket Team are squaring off in the second test, which is underway at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati. On day 2 of the clash on Sunday, November 23, Proteas all-rounder Senuran Muthusamy hammered an impeccable century to overpower Indian bowlers.
Muthusamy showed brilliant defensive technique against Indian spinners, reaching his half-century in the first session on day 2. Later, he went on to hammer a ton in the second session, reaching the three-figure mark in 192 deliveries. This was also his maiden ton in the longest format of the game.
While Indian bowlers looked decent on day one, they completely failed to get the better off Muthusamy. With his impeccable knock, he propelled the team’s scoreboard to a 425-plus mark for the loss of seven wickets. He also etched crucial stands of 88 runs with Kyle Verreynne and 94* with Marco Jansen, who also hit a century.

Meanwhile, South Africa captain Temba Bavuma won the toss and opted to bat first in the Guwahati test. During the toss, he had revealed that Muthusamy was picked as a replacement for Corbin Bosch. The move emerged fruitful with Muthusamy’s impeccable ton in the clash, which is the first century by any batter in the series so far.
Ahead of the lunch on day 2, the Temba Bavuma & Co. reached 428/7 on the scoreboard, with Muthusamy (107*) and Marco Jansen (51*) at the strike. So far, Kuldeep Yadav is the most successful bowler with his three wickets, followed by Ravindra Jadeja with two scalps. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj have taken one scalp each. The visitors lead the two-match series 1-0 after winning the opening game by 30 runs.
