Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan added 210 runs for the opening wicket for GT against CSK.

Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan gave a dream start to the Gujarat Titans (GT) in their ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). This match is being played at the Narendra Modi International Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad on May 10, 2024.

Both teams are looking to win this encounter to stay alive in the race for the IPL 17 playoffs spot. GT came into this encounter with 4 wins from 11 games and 8 points, while CSK had 6 wins from 11 games and 12 points to their name.

Ruturaj Gaikwad, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain won the toss and chose to bowl first. Both the teams had a few changes to their lineup. However, what happened next to the Chennai bowlers was unfathomable.

Shubman Gill slams the 100th century of IPL history, and Sai Sudharsan follows with his maiden IPL ton

Both the openers Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill took the attack to the CSK bowlers as GT have nothing to lose in this match. A win here will only keep them alive for the playoffs. They took apart all CSK bowlers, including the experienced Ravindra Jadeja, who went for 29 runs in his 2 overs.

Ruturaj Gaikwad tried all the tricks in the book, but a batting beauty of a pitch and aggressive intent of both batters led to CSK bowlers leaking runs everywhere.

During his knock, B. Sai Sudharsan became the fastest Indian batter to complete 1000 runs in the IPL. Sudharsan reached the landmark in his 25th innings, quicker than Sachin Tendulkar and Ruturaj Gaikwad, who had crossed the landmark in their 31st inning.

The two openers were neck-to-neck in the scoring rate, but Shubman Gill was the first to the milestone mark. He reached his century in 50 balls and this was also his 4th century in IPL and the 100th ton in the IPL history.

Sai Sudharsan followed shortly, hitting a six to bring up his maiden IPL hundred, also in 50 balls. Sudharsan was the first to depart for 103 runs in 51 balls with 5 fours and 7 sixes, while Shubman followed soon for 104 runs in 55 balls with 9 fours and 6 sixes.

The duo added a record 210 runs for the opening wicket and this was the third time two individual hundreds came in the same innings. GT managed to post 231/3 in 20 overs.

The Twitterverse was all abuzz for centuries by Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan and their 210-run partnership and lauded them on social media.
