Zimbabwe defeated India by 13 runs in the first T20I in Harare.

It was a historic day for the Sikandar Raza-led Zimbabwe Cricket team as they defeated the T20 World Cup 2024 champions Indian cricket team by 13 runs in first of the five-match T20I series at the Harare Sports Club in Harare on July 6.

After being asked to bat first, the hosts just managed to reach 115/9 in 20 overs. Wicket-keeper batter Clive Madande played a crucial knock of 29 runs, whereas Dion Myers =chipped in with 23 runs. For India, leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi bagged a four-wicket haul.

It was looking like an easy chase for India with a batting line-up full of proven IPL stars, but young and spirited Zimbabwe made it tough for visitors to score each run. India were rocked back for 28/4 in the first six overs. They also recorded the lowest ever score in the first powerplay against Zimbabwe.

In the middle overs, Zimbabwe bowlers kept things tight as they bowled out India for 102 runs and won the historic match by 13 runs, and took a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match T20I series. This is also the first time that Zimbabwe has taken all 10 wickets of India in a T20I match till now.

As the T20 World Champions, India, lost the match to a side which didn’t even qualify for the recently concluded T20 World Cup, fans across countries trolled the Indian side across social media with a few of labeling the IPL stars ‘flop’ as well.

Let’s take a look at some reactions after Zimbabwe’s thrilling win over T20 World Cup 2024 winners India in the first T20I
