India U19 defeated South Africa U19 in semi-finals to qualify for the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 final.

The captain’s knock from Uday Saharan led India to their fifth consecutive ICC U19 World Cup final since 2016. Defending Champions India will play for the championship in Benoni on 10th February. India U19 skipper Uday Saharan played a valiant unbeaten knock of 81 runs to take India into the final game of the big event. Uday Saharan was accompanied by Sachin Dhas (96) for the match-winning fifth-wicket partnership.

A brilliant spell from Kwena Maphaka and Tristan Luus rattled India’s top-order, but that was not enough for the hosts to qualify for the big final in Benoni. Kwena Maphaka began with a wicket on his first ball of the Indian innings, but the confident Indian middle-order took their side to a win in a closely fought game. India will be taking on the winner of the second semi-final.

Fans cheer as India qualifies for the Final

Social media celebrated India’s win hugely and several reactions poured in. Sachin Dhas’ 96-run knock earned a huge fanbase as the young kid impressed everyone with his brilliant short-arm jabs and pull shots. Despite losing four wickets inside the first powerplay during the chase, Sachin Dhas scored 96 runs in 95 balls with 11 fours and one six in his innings.

Here’s how twitter reacted to India U19’s win over South Africa U19 in the ICC U19 World Cup 2024 semi-final:

India elected to field first after winning the toss in the first semi-final of the tournament. Junior Team India won all five games before the semi-final defending the total, but captain Uday Saharan surprised everyone with his choice in the semi-final clash. The wicket was tough to bat on and South Africa posted 244 runs in 50 overs. Chasing 245, India had a terrible start as Kwena Maphaka (3/32) and Tristan Luus (3/37) rattled the Indian top-order.

Skipper Uday Saharan was named Player of the Match for his 81-run knock. He kept the one end secured when Sachin Dhas took on the South African bowlers in the middle overs and took India closer to the target. India U19 is the most successful side in the U19 World Cup history with five titles. India are just one win away from their sixth U19 World Cup title. They will take on the winners of the second semi-final between Australia and Pakistan in the final on 10th February.
