"All class.." Cricketing fraternity lauds Yashasvi Jaiswal as he starts England tour with a ton at Headingley

Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his fifth century in test cricket during the encounter.
Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal began India’s tour of England with a bang as he smashed a sensational hundred during the first test at Headingley, Leeds. Touring England for the first time in whites, Jaiswal showed grit with the bat to smash his first test hundred on the English soil.
Talking about the game, England skipper Ben Stokes won the toss and opted to bowl first. For India, Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul opened the innings and gave a superb start to the batting, adding 91 runs for the first wicket. While Rahul lost his wicket for 48 runs, Jaiswal went on to score a century in the first innings.
The left-handed batsman scored his fifth ton in test cricket and his third against England. He helped the visitors reach 215/2 at tea break. Shubman Gill, who came to bat at No. 4, scored a half-century in the encounter.

Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed 16 boundaries and one six during his stay at the crease. Following his knock, Indian cricket fraternity lavished praise on the opener.

However, right after the tea break, Jaiswal lost his wicket to the opposition captain Ben Stokes for 101. He stayed at the crease for 159 deliveries.
Notably, Jaiswal hit a ton on his test debut against the West Indies in 2023. Also on his first test tour of Australia, Jaiswal hit a ton in the very first match at Perth in 2024.
Meanwhile, Sai Sudharsan made his test debut in the encounter. However, he lost his wicket for a four-ball duck while batting at No.3. Karun Nair also returned to India’s test XI after a long gap of eight years.
