Travis Head reached his century in Adelaide in only 111 balls.
Travis Head continued his love affair with the Indian cricket team as he smashed a stunning century at his home ground, Adelaide Oval, in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 test match.
This is Head’s third century against India across formats since 2023, the two other coming in the ICC WTC 2021-23 final and the ODI World Cup 2023 final.
This one, too, came at a crucial juncture for Australia. India had started day 2 of the Adelaide test on a positive note by picking a couple of early wickets, leaving the hosts in a precarious position at 108/3.
However, the momentum shifted back towards Australia as Head blasted a century off only 111 balls. He produced some jaw-dropping strokes. Head clattered 10 fours and three sixes and reached his hundred at a strike rate of 89.
He reached the three-figure mark with a tap on the leg side off R Ashwin. Soon after reaching his century, Head rocked his bat and dedicated the hundred to his newborn son Harrison. He then gestured towards the stands where his wife and son were present. The left-hander then did his trademark helmet on the bad-handle celebration and soaked in the applause from the Adelaide crowd who were up on their feet.

Jasprit Bumrah got India a couple of breakthroughs early in the day by removing Nathan McSweeney and Steve Smith. Marnus Labuschagne, though, grinded it out and finally reached a fifty, getting back to form amid doubts over his place in the side.
India made dents with Labuschagne and Mitchell Marsh’s wickets but Head had already taken off and raced towards his eighth test century.
