[Watch] Ruben Trumpelmann knocks Jos Buttler's off-stump out of the ground in NAM vs ENG at ICC T20 World Cup 2024

England skipper Jos Buttler was bowled for a duck against Namibia.

England captain Jos Buttler had a forgettable outing with the bat against Namibia as the opener was bowled for a four-ball duck by left-arm speedster Ruben Trumpelmann.

It was a must-win game for England – which they eventually managed to win – to remain alive in the race to the Super 8 round of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. So losing their captain and best batter for a duck was a huge loss for the defending champions.

It was a stunning inswinging delivery from Trumpelmann as it knocked Buttler’s off-stump out of the ground!

Due to rain in Antigua, the match was reduced to a 10-over-per-side contest at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium. This meant that Buttler had no time to settle himself on a tough pitch and had to attack from the onset of his innings.

In trying to smoke Trumpelmann for a six on the legside, the England skipper lost his off-pole.

From over the wicket angle, Trumpelmann bowled a terrific inswinger that pitched on the good length. Buttler didn’t make much foot movement and went for a mighty slog. However, the ball seamed into him after pitching and beat his bat completely. It deflected off his pad and crashed into the off-stump, knocking it out of the ground.

The England captain walked back to the dressing room with a duck to his name and signs of worry on his face, fearing a group-stage elimination.

Eventually, England did manage to sneak into the Super 8 round. They defeated Namibia by 41 runs in a rain-affected match. Hours later then, Australia defeated Scotland by five wickets to help England enter the next round.
