UAE announce squad for Asia Cup 2025, Matiullah Khan and Simranjeet Singh recalled

UAE are placed in Group A in Asia Cup along with India, Pakistan and Oman.
A squad of 17 players has been announced by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for Asia Cup 2025, which kicks off in Abu Dhabi on September 9. The UAE squad will be captained by Muhammad Waseem.
UAE will play their opening encounter of Asia Cup 2025 against India on September 10 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. In addition to India, they will play in the Asian competition’s Group A against countries including Oman (on September 15 at Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi) and Pakistan (on September 17 in Dubai).
They will also be able to compete in the Super Fours if they place in the top two of the group stage; if they place in the top two, they will have the chance to play in the summit match on September 28.
Matiullah Khan and Simranjeet Singh included in UAE’s Asia Cup 2025 squad
The UAE’s team has added right-arm pacer Matiullah Khan and left-arm spinner Simranjeet Singh to Asia Cup 2025 squad from the current T20I tri-series against Pakistan and Afghanistan. The remaining players have retained their places in the UAE squad.
32-year-old Matiullah has only participated in one ODI and five T20Is thus far. On the other hand, Simranjeet, 35, has played in 11 Twenty20 Internationals and five One-Day Internationals. He last represented the UAE at the Gulf T20I Championship last December.
UAE previously participated in the Asia Cup in 2016, when the tournament was hosted in Bangladesh, the first time in the T20I format.
