Major update on CSK’s batting coach for IPL 2027

Zaheer Khan has been appointed as Chennai Super Kings’ new head coach.
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) coaching staff came under scrutiny ahead of the new season, as the five-time champions are desperate for their sixth title.
After former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming stepped down as CSK’s head coach earlier this year, in July, the conversation about his potential successor became a significantly discussed topic.
However, the discussions ended after the Super Kings board announced former Indian bowler Zaheer Khan as the side’s new head coach. Khan replaced Fleming, who was appointed head coach of the five-time champion in 2009, some time after his retirement as a player.
The former Blackcaps batter was a crucial factor behind the franchise’s success in the competition. Under Stephen Fleming, the Super Kings won five IPL and two Champions League T20 titles.
A statement released by the side claimed that the franchise and the coach had mutually decided to part ways. Stephen Fleming also parted ways with the other two Super Kings franchises, Joburg Super Kings (SA20) and Texas Super Kings (MLC).
Much like CSK, the other two Super Kings franchises were also failing to contest for their respective titles. The franchise was also unlikely to offer Stephan Fleming an extension, as Chennai failed to win a title in the last three editions. And now, Michael Hussey is also likely to leave the franchise.

Before Zaheer Khan was announced as CSK’s new head coach, Australian cricket icon Michael Hussey was seen as the current frontrunner to become Stephan Fleming’s successor. Hussey enjoyed a great relationship with CSK, having played for the five-time champions from 2008 to 2013 and again in 2015.
Hussey also worked as a batting consultant with the national teams of South Africa, Australia, and England. Meanwhile, he was appointed as the batting coach by the Chennai Super Kings in 2018.
However, according to Crizbuzz, Hussey’s time as CSK’s batting coach is nearing its end. The report claims that Zaheer Khan has 3-4 names in his mind that he will push forward as the side’s new batting coach. On the other hand, Mohit Sharma is set to join the Chennai Super Kings as the team’s new bowling coach
