Josh Inglis was acquired by LSG for a whooping INR 8.60 Crore in the mini-auction.

The Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have struggled for consistency at the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, managing to win only two matches after the conclusion of their first six matches. The biggest worry for LSG has been the poor returns from their overseas batting contingent, mainly Nicholas Pooran.

Such is the lack of variety in their overseas department that LSG played with only three overseas players in their playing XI. They have gone against the decision of giving Matthew Breetzke an opportunity, and instead preferred Indian uncapped players like Abdul Samad and Himmat Singh.

The return of Josh Inglis is likely to significantly solve their middle-order batting woes. The Australian played a pivotal role in helping Punjab Kings (PBKS) reach the finals last year. He scored 278 runs in the 11 matches he played, at a blistering strike rate of 162.47.

Inglis’ best knock came against five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) at the end of the group-stage, which helped Punjab finish at the top in the points table. He later provided a strong hand against MI once again in their qualifier 2 triumph.

Ahead of the IPL 2026 retentions, Inglis informed PBKS about his unavailability for the majority of the season, due to which the management had no choice but to release him.

As a result, he went unsold in the first round of the auction. However, later LSG acquired him for a massive INR 8.60 crore.

Although Inglis originally informed PBKS that he might only play for a few weeks in late May after a long honeymoon, reports in ESPNCricinfo now suggest he has shortened his time away following the ceremony to join the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 4 May 2026.

He is expected to return for the MI vs LSG clash at the Wankhede Stadium on May 4, and will feature in the laxt six league stage matches.

When will Josh Inglis join LSG in IPL 2026?

Inglis is expected to join Lucknow Super Giants by May 4, 2026, and could feature in the match against Mumbai Indians.

Why was Inglis unavailable at the start of IPL 2026?

He was on a personal break following his wedding and had initially planned to join only later in the season.
