Phil Salt did not play in Qualifier 1 vs GT.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Gujarat Titans (GT) are all set for the final of the Indian Premier League 2026. The summit clash will take place on May 31 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

After a huge victory against GT in Qualifier 1, RCB are looking favourites to win the final. However, the Shubman Gill & Co. will enjoy the home advantage in the summit clash and will leave no stone unturned to overpower RCB. Hence, both teams have equal chance to claim their second title.

With the RCB vs GT final around the corner, Phil Salt’s availability has been the massive talking point. He also did not play in the Qualifier 1 clash against GT.

The RCB opener has resumed his training sessions with the team and took part in drills. Speaking to reporters, RCB captain Rajat Patidar said that Salt is fit for the encounter but they will decide the opening combination after analysing the pitch conditions.

“Phil Salt is with the side, doing some drills. Team doctors are looking at him. We will see the pitch and decide our opening combination,” Patidar said as quoted by Revsportz.

Notably, Salt sustained a finger injury while fielding in the encounter against the Delhi Capitals (DC) on April 18. Hence, he returned to the United Kingdom for further scans and recovery of his injury.

He rejoined the RCB squad towards the end of the league stage; however, he did not play in any of the recent games.

RCB used Jacob Bethell as an opener after Salt’s ouster, who failed to perform in the league. However, he also was ruled out of the tournament due to a finger injury. In the previous games, Venkatesh Iyer has been promoted as an opener and has done a fabulous job.

Meanwhile, Salt has impressed with his performance, scoring 202 runs in six games with two half-centuries. He helped the team get off to a quick start in some matches.
