Rohit Sharma is recovering from a hamstring injury.

Mumbai Indians (MI) are all set to clash with Gujarat Titans (GT) on Monday, April 20, in the Indian Premier League 2026. With four back-to-back defeats, Hardik Pandya & Co. are desperate for a victory in the upcoming clash.

Recently, Mumbai suffered a big blow as Rohit Sharma sustained a hamstring injury. He injured his hamstring while batting in the clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). He left the field due to injury and did not bat later in the match.

Moreover, the former MI captain also missed the previous game against the Punjab Kings. Quinton de Kock replaced him as an opener in that match. Ahead of the previous match, Hardik Pandya had mentioned that Rohit might miss a few more games in IPL 2026.

According to a report by The Indian Express, Sharma will travel to Ahmedabad early today and undergo a fitness test ahead of the GT vs MI clash.

Notably, Rohit also underwent some light training at Wankhede Stadium ahead of the previous game against Punjab Kings. However, he did not participate in the clash. His chances of playing in today’s game remain bleak.

In the pre-match conference on Sunday, MI bowling coach Paras Mhambrey had revealed that Rohit and Santner are fit. The latter missed the previous game due to illness.

“Both [Rohit Sharma and Mitchell Santner] are fit. In fact, if you are just walking by the nets out here, if you just look at Rohit’s batting. So yeah, he is working on it. Santner is fit. So, unfortunately, we missed him (Santner) in the last game, picked up a bug. Not something that we could do. But both are fit, yeah,” Mhambrey said.

With a 78-run knock in the opening game against KKR, the 38-year-old batter started IPL 2026 on a fabulous note. He scored 35, 5, and 19* in the next three games. In his absence, de Kock slammed a century against Punjab in a losing cause.
