Rohit Sharma last featured in the IPL 2026 and scored 283 runs in 9 matches, with a strike rate of 155. However, he suffered a hamstring injury during the tournament and hence could not play some matches.
It was speculated that Rohit would not be picked for the Afghanistan ODIs due to the injury. To the contrary, he was picked in the side; however, his availability for the matches was subject to his fitness.
According to a report by Jagran News, Rohit was having trouble running and was to be included in the team only after his fitness report came.
Now, according to a report by Times of India, Sharma will report to the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) on June 8 for fitness clearance.
India will play 20 ODIs before the next IPL season, which includes an away tour to England and a five-match series against New Zealand.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also suffered a hamstring injury towards the end of the IPL, and is highly likely to miss the series against Afghanistan; to be replaced by Ruturaj Gaikwad.
