Indian Cricket Team are set to clash with England in the second ODI on July 16 at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff. The Men in Blue lead the campaign 1-0 and will aim to win the series in the second encounter itself.
In the opening game, India bowled out England for 258 runs in the first innings. While pacer Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, and Gurnoor Brar dismantled England’s top and middle-order at the start, spinner Axar Patel bagged a four-wicket haul later.
After England struggled at 80/5 at one stage, Joe Root and Liam Dawson slammed half-centuries to rescue the team and reach a respectable total. However, India chased down the target with ease with half-centuries by Shubman Gill (80*), Axar Patel (57*), and Washington Sundar (52*).
While it was an easy win for India, Shubman Gill suffered an injury scare in the opening game. As he was batting at 80 runs off 75 deliveries in the 26th over in the 2nd innings, he suffered an issue with his leg, which looked like a cramp or hamstring injury. He left the field immediately and did not resume his batting later.
Gill was seen in pain and had a chat with the team physio, who advised him to not continue with his batting. After he left the field, Washington Sundar came out to bat. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) did not share any updates on Gill’s injury after the match. However, according to reports, he is expected to play in tomorrow’s clash.
