Major update on Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma joining India squad for West Indies ODIs

Virat Kohli & Rohit Sharma last played for India in England series.
India are getting ready for their next ODI series as they will take on the West Indies in a three-match home series. The team will be looking to make a good start as they continue their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The three-match series will begin on September 27 at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. The second ODI will be played in New Delhi, while the third match will take place in Chandigarh.
India will enter the series with several regular players unavailable due to their Asian Games commitments in Japan. This has opened the door for a few new faces, while some experienced players will return to the ODI setup.
The series will also give India a chance to look at some of their players and combinations ahead of the bigger tournaments. With some regular players away on Asian Games duty, a few other names will get an opportunity in the ODI squad.
As per the Times of India, the players will start assembling from tonight, and by tomorrow every player will join the side.

Virat Kohli will also return to the ODI setup for the three-match series. His presence, along with Rohit Sharma gives India two of their most experienced batters as the team continues their preparations for the next ODI World Cup.
Most of India’s first-choice ODI players are currently away with the Asian Games squad, including vice-captain Shreyas Iyer, Ishan Kishan, Jasprit Bumrah and Axar Patel.
Their absence has created opportunities for players such as Ruturaj Gaikwad and Auqib Nabi, while Ravindra Jadeja has also returned to the ODI setup.
Rohit Sharma to join India squad tomorrow
Rohit Sharma, as per reports in TOI, will join the Indian squad on Thursday as he returns to ODI cricket after a two-month break. Rohit Sharma was recently seen training.
He was spotted batting in the nets as he prepared for his return. His ODI future was a major talking point during India’s series against England earlier this year, but he scored 138 off 110 balls in that game and became the first Indian batter to score an ODI century at Lord’s.
KL Rahul will also be under the spotlight during the series. All-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy is another player who will be closely watched during the series.
He was withdrawn from the Asian Games squad as the selectors want him to get more match time and continue building his bowling workload.
India head coach Gautam Gambhir had earlier backed Reddy’s development with the ball.
“From Nitish’s point of view, it’s actually a great thing that he’s been withdrawn from the T20 format, and he’ll get game time against the West Indies as well,” Gambhir said.

Rohit Sharma is expected to join the India squad on Thursday, September 24.
