Batters with Centuries in Big Bash League (BBL)

Tim Seifert became the latest addition to the list of batters with a century in the Big Bash League (BBL).

Tim Seifert ripped through the opening week of Big Bash League (BBL) 15 with a superb hundred for the Melbourne Renegades, and the moment felt perfect as the tournament looked for an early headline.

On December 15, 2025, at Simonds Stadium in Geelong, the New Zealand batter smashed 102 from 56 balls, that saw the Renegades push on to 5 for 212 against the Brisbane Heat. As a result, the BBL 2025-26’s first century sounded loudly and set the tone straight away.

The innings moved quickly from the outset, but it gathered more force as the overs passed, because Seifert kept picking gaps and sending the ball into the stands with ease. He hit nine fours and six sixes, using his clean hitting with clever placement that stretched the field in every direction.

Soon after, he wrote his name into the club’s record book, since he became only the second Renegades player to score a BBL hundred, following former captain Aaron Finch. Meanwhile, the wider picture mattered too, because Seifert returned from a finger injury and still batted with freedom and confidence.

Then Ollie Peake piled on the pressure, and their 121-run partnership for the fourth wicket swung the game heavily Melbourne’s way, with Peake firing 57 from 29 balls. In the end, commentators hailed the knock as a standout T20 effort, and few disagreed, since Seifert set a massive target and sparked the BBL 2025-26 with a statement performance.

BBL centuries have always felt different, and this expanding list of hundreds shows how the competition continues to reward brave batting along with an efficient read of conditions.

From the very first season, batters walked out looking to make a statement, and the record book began filling almost straight away, starting with David Warner’s unbeaten 102 for the Thunder against the Stars in Melbourne in December 2011, before Chris Gayle followed by bludgeoning an unbeaten 100 in Sydney with a spray of huge sixes.

As the seasons passed, each ground produced its own story, but the pattern stayed the same, because players went hard from the first ball and backed their natural game. Luke Wright smashed 117 for the Stars in Hobart, Aaron Finch imposed himself for the Renegades with an unbeaten 111 at Docklands, and Liam Pomersbach responded soon after with 112 for the Heat at the same venue.

Not long later, Craig Simmons tore into attacks for the Scorchers, while Michael Klinger and Peter Handscomb produced calmer but just as telling hundreds that built control before finishing strongly.

Meanwhile, the middle years brought even more variety, as Usman Khawaja rolled out two classy hundreds for the Thunder, Travis Head and Alex Carey set Adelaide alight for the Strikers, and D’Arcy Short kicked off his dominant run for the Hurricanes with innings built on timing and muscle.

Then the next wave arrived, with Marcus Stoinis crushing 147 not out for the Stars, Matthew Wade powering 130 for Hobart, and Glenn Maxwell pushing the limits with a stunning unbeaten 154 in Melbourne.

More recently, Steve Smith led the way for the Sixers with three hundreds shaped by patience and late acceleration, while Josh Brown smashed 140 for the Heat and Mitch Owen chipped in with his own fast-paced efforts for the Hurricanes.

Finally, Tim Seifert added his name in Geelong with 102 for the Renegades against the Heat, rounding out the list by displaying the fearless approach that started it all.

Taken together, these innings span teams, venues, and seasons, but they all share the same spirit because every batter chose to attack, trusted their skill, and created a name for themselves in the league.
