Vaibhav Sooryavanshi scored 776 runs at a staggering strike rate of 237 in IPL 2026.
A name that will be heard in the cricketing world for at least another decade and a half, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, has taken the sport by a storm. The young star has made a name for himself since the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, when he hit a six off the first ball he faced on his debut.
Sooryavanshi has been the youngest debutant of IPL history, the youngest centurion and the youngest Orange Cap winner — the records which most likely will never be broken.
IPL 2026 will be remembered by the name of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who scored 776 runs — the most by any uncapped player. He made these runs at a staggering strike rate of 237, with 72 sixes — the most in a single edition in the history of IPL.
He scored over 500 runs in the powerplay helping Rajasthan Royals RR) maximise those early overs with the bat. For his exceptional hitting he won the Super Striker of the tournament award. At the mere age of 15 years, Sooryavanshi also bagged the Emerging Player of the Tournament award.
His impact knocks with the bat, like the two 90+ scores in the playoffs, helped RR secure a spot in the Top 4. Not only this, he was also the Most Valuable Player of the Tournament.

The BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia praised the phenomenon Vaibhav Sooryavanshi for his extraordinary tournament. Speaking to reporters, he said:
“Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is a wonderful player coming up, and he has a bright future. BCCI will do everything to get him to the highest level of cricket.”
Sooryavanshi has been named in the 15-member squad of India A for the Tri-Nation A Series in Sri Lanka starting from 9th June. Not only this, he also has been named in 30-man probables list for Asian Games 2026.
In a recent event of Cricinfo, even the great Sachin Tendulkar talked about the sheer talent and skill that Vaibhav possesses, and how he can be an asset to the Indian Team in years to come. Sachin appreciated the excellent wrist work that he has at his disposal and the way he picks the line and length earlier than few other batsmen.
