Vaibhav Suryavanshi scripts history, smashes fastest century in U19 ODIs during 4th Youth ODI against England U19

Vaibhav Suryavanshi scored a century off just 52 balls in the match.

India Under-19 are locking horns with England Under-19 in the fourth Youth ODI on Saturday, July 5, at New Road, Worcester. During the encounter, India opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed an incredible century to script the record for the fastest century in Youth ODIs.

The left-handed batsman slammed a century off just 52 balls in the match, breaking the previous record held by Pakistan’s Kamran Ghulam off 53 deliveries. The left-handed batsman eventually hammered 143 runs off 78 balls, hitting 13 boundaries and ten sixes during his knock.

Earlier, England U19 won the toss and opted to bowl first. India U19 lost captain Ayush Mhatre cheaply for five runs at the start; however, Suryavanshi’s quickfire knock helped them to cross 230 runs on the scoreboard in just 30 overs.

In the third Youth ODI, Suryavanshi slammed a quickfire 86 runs off 31 balls to help India U19 win the encounter by four wickets. The match was reduced to 40 overs due to rain. After being asked to bat first, the hosts piled up 268/6 in the first innings.

Later, Suryavanshi’s half-century helped India chase down the target within 35 overs. Earlier, he also scored a crucial 48-run knock in the first Youth ODI at County Ground, Hove, helping the team to win the encounter by six wickets. With 322 runs in four games, Suryavanshi is the leading run-scorer in the series, which will witness five games.

Meanwhile, India U-19 lead the five-match ODI series 2-1. They won the opening game by six wickets but lost the second match by one wicket. The visitors bounced back to win the third encounter by four wickets. The series will conclude with the fifth Youth ODI game on July 7 at New Road, Worcester.
