How did Vaibhav Suryavanshi fare in the first ENG U-19 vs IND U-19 Youth ODI?

Just like India’s senior men’s cricket team, India Under-19 are also on a tour of England. India U-19 will play a total of five Youth ODIs and two Youth Tests during the tour. The first Youth ODI between the two sides took place on Friday, June 27 at the County Ground in Hove.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who made it to the headlines during Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a 35-ball hundred for Rajasthan Royals (RR), is part of India U-19 squad for the tour. He opened for India U-19 in the match and played a quickfire knock of 48 runs. The left-handed batter slammed five sixes and three boundaries during his stay at the crease and played a key role in propelling India U-19 to a victory.
Talking about the match, England U-19 won the toss and opted to bat first. Opener Isaac Mohammed scored a brilliant knock of 42 runs. Later, Rocky Flintoff (56) shattered a half-century. However, the rest of the batters lost their wickets like a house of cards, failing to go big with the bat.
England U-19 were bowled out for just 174 in 42.2 overs. India-U19 bowlers showed brilliant teamwork in bowling with Kanishk Chouhan taking a three-wicket haul. Henil Patel, RS Ambrish, and Mohamed Enaan captured two wickets each.
Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed 48 runs off 19 deliveries
During the chase, opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi slammed opposition bowlers all over the park and etched an opening stand of 71 runs with captain Ayush Mhatre. The latter got out for 21 runs. Hitting 48 runs off just 19 deliveries, Suryavanshi held a high strike rate of 252.63. However, he fell two runs short of his half-century, becoming a victim of spinner Ralphie Albert in the eight over.
Later, Abhigyan Kundu followed up on Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s good start with his unbeaten 45-run knock. India U-19 chased down the target in just 24 overs to register a huge victory by six wickets.
For England U-19, AM French got two wickets while Jack Home and Ralphie Albert clinched one scalp each. After the victory in the opening game, India U-19 lead the five-match Youth ODI series 1-0. The second game will be played on June 30 at County Ground, Northampton.
