Vaibhav Suryavanshi got out for 72 runs against Bangladesh in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2026 match.

India’s young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi is currently busy in the U19 ICC Cricket World Cup 2026. The left-handed batsman is a key member of India U19’s batting unit in the tournament, which got underway on January 15. Zimbabwe and Namibia are the hosts of the tournament, were 16 teams will battle for the title.

Suryavanshi failed to make a mark in the opening game against the United States of America (USA), getting bowled out for just two runs. He faced just four balls in the clash before losing his wicket in the third over.

However, India still managed to win the encounter by six wickets. They bundled out USA for just 107 runs in the first innings.

Later, the Ayush Mhatrey & Boys chased down the target by six wickets in just 17.2 overs, with a 42-run knock by wicket-keeper Abhigyan Kundu. For his five-wicket haul, Henil Patel was awarded Player of the match.

After struggling to come up with a powerful performance in the opening game, Suryavanshi grabbed the spotlight in the second match against Bangladesh U19 on Saturday, January 17. Smacking a half-century against the Asian neighbour, Suryavanshi scripted history in the tournament.

The left-handed batsman has become the youngest player to score a fifty in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup’s history at the age of 14 years. He has broken the previous record held by Afghanistan’s Shahidullah Kamal. Pakistan’s Babar Azam, Afghanistan’s Perwez Malikzai, and Nepal’s Sharad Vesakar are a few batters in the leaderboard.
