Venkatesh Prasad names his top 5 batters in India’s playing XI for T20 World Cup 2024

Former Indian bowler Venkatesh Prasad has left out Hardik Pandya from his top 5.

Former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad has revealed five batters that he wants to see in the Indian playing XI for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The T20 World Cup will be played in June this year and will be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA.

India were the first team to win the T20 World Cup back in 2007, but since then, they have reached the finals only once in 2014, while got defeated in the semi-finals in 2016 and 2022. India are yet to win an ICC trophy since their 2013 Champions Trophy win.

India recently lost the final of the 2023 World Cup as well at home and this also be Rohit Sharma, the India captain’s, final chance of an ICC trophy glory. There will be the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025 in Pakistan as well.

However, before the tournament, former Indian fast bowler Venkatesh Prasad named set of batters he wants in the Indian playing XI. Prasad wants CSK all-rounder Shivam Dube, MI batter Suryakumar Yadav, and KKR finisher Rinku Singh to be included in India’s playing XI for the T20 World Cup 2024, which will be held in June.

He mentioned on X (formerly Twitter) that these three batters in sync with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will give Indian batting a huge boost.

“Shivam Dube for his striking ability against spinners, Surya for being the best T20 international batter and Rinku Singh for his exceptional finishing ability. It will be great if India finds a way to have these 3 in the 11 in the T20 WC. With Virat and Rohit, this will leave a spot for just a keeper batsman. Interesting to see how it pans out,” he posted.

Shivam Dube has several match-winning performances for Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2024 and has received support from cricket gurus for the prestigious competition. Suryakumar Yadav recently played his first IPL 2024 match against Delhi Capitals after missing the previous matches due to injury, while Rinku Singh continues to excel as a great finisher for the Kolkata Knight Riders.
