The fourth test between England Cricket Team and Indian Cricket Team got underway on Wednesday, July 23 at Old Trafford, Manchester. After starting the day on a good note and reaching 72/0 by end of first session, India then suffered a massive blow as wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant suffered an injury while batting during third session of day one.
The incident happened in the 68th over as Chris Woakes’ delivery hit Rishabh Pant on his foot as he tried to play a reverse sweep. The keeper-batter was seen in pain as the team physios attended him. However, the injury looked much serious than expected. He wasn’t able to walk and was carried off the field on a cart.
As a result, Pant got retired hurt in the first innings after scoring 37 runs off 48 balls. His injury comes as a big blow for India as he looked right on the track to score big and also the fact that he has been one of the top batters in the series.
