Virat Kohli joins Suresh Raina and Kieron Pollard in the elusive list.

Virat Kohli became the 3rd player to take 100 catches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) IPL 2023 encounter at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 23, 2023.

Sanju Samson, the RR captain had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Virat Kohli captained the RCB team again for the second time this season. This is also a special match for RCB, who are wearing a green colored jersey to support the go green initiative.

Boult bowled the first ball of the first over to Virat Kohli and got him plumb out LBW with a brilliant inswinging full delivery. Kohli was late on the ball and walked off the field without even considering taking the DRS review.

After Kohli’s wicket, The RCB innings was rebuilt by Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell who added 127 runs for the second wicket after Shahbaz Ahmed was also dismissed for cheap, again by Boult. Du Plessis made 62 before being run out and Maxwell fell to Ravi Ashwin for 77 in 44 balls.

Trent Boult and Sandeep Sharma picked two wickets each for Rajasthan.

In reply, Mohammed Siraj castled Jos Buttler in the first over itself. But then Yashasvi Jaiswal (47) and Devdutt Padikkal (52) added 98 runs for the second wicket, giving momentum to the RR innings.

But then both fell to catches taken by Virat Kohli off the bowling of David Willey and Harshal Patel respectively.

With these two catches, Virat Kohli became only the 3rd fielder to take 100 catches in the Indian Premier League.

Here is the list of top five fielders with most catches in IPL:

1. Suresh Raina – 109 catches

2. Kieron Pollard- 103 catches

3. Virat Kohli- 101 catches

4. Rohit Sharma- 98 catches

5. Shikhar Dhawan- 93 catches.

In the same game, Trent Boult completed his 100 wickets in the IPL when he castled Virat Kohli on the first ball of the game.
