Veteran Virat Kohli is the best batter to ever play in ODIs. With 54 centuries, he holds the record for most centuries in the 50-over format. Moreover, in the 50-over format, he is often considered an even greater and better player than the ‘God of Cricket’, Sachin Tendulkar.

Kohli retired from T20Is in June 2024 and from test cricket in May 2025. He has impressed with his recent performance. For instance, he hammered a century and a half-century in the previous ODI series against New Zealand in January.
He also finished as the highest run-scorer for champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in IPL 2026 last month. He played a crucial role in their victory and also won the Player of the Match award in the final with his unbeaten half-century.
Kohli was ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan after sustaining a hamstring injury during IPL 2026 final against the Gujarat Titans. He was earlier named in the squad by the BCCI but was ruled out ahead of the opening game. India and Afghanistan are scheduled to clash in three ODIs from June 13 to 20.
He has been in marvellous form in ODIs over the last two years. In 2025, he hammered 651 runs in 13 games at an average of 65.10 with three centuries and four fifties. Since the start of 2026, the batting legend has amassed 240 runs in three games at an average of 80.0 and a strike rate of 105.26. This also includes one ton and a fifty.
