Virat Kohli managed only one run in Indiaâs first innings in the Pune test.
After sharing the honours on day 1 of the second IND vs NZ test in Pune, New Zealand moved significantly ahead in the match in the morning session on day 2.
The first day of the match saw New Zealand posting a competitive first innings total of 259 runs on a challenging pitch. After winning the toss and electing to bat first, New Zealand were helped by terrific half-centuries from Devon Conway (76) and Rachin Ravindra (65).
From the bowling perspective, Washington Sundar starred for India, returning with an excellent figures of 7/59.
After losing Rohit Sharma late on the first day, India started the second day at a score of 16/1. India were looking to maximize their total in the first innings with star Indian duo Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill both looking to play big knocks. However, Mitchell Santner broke the 49-run stand for the second wicket by trapping Shubman LBW for the score of 30.
India were given another big blow soon, with Mitchell Santner cleaning up Virat Kohli for just one run.
Santner bowled a low full toss that was effectively a yorker. To everyoneâs surprise, Kohli misjudged the length as he played a sweep shot. Kohli failed to make any contact with the delivery, allowing the ball to crash into his middle stump.
