Virat Kohli issues damage control clarification after being caught liking actress Avneet Kaur's photo on Instagram

Virat Kohli said he had no intention to like the post.
On Friday, May 2, Indian cricketer Virat Kohli issued a clarification on his recent activity on the social media platform Instagram. Notably, users on Instagram noticed Kohli’s like on a photo of Indian actress Avneet Kaur, which was posted by a fan page of her. Avneet is a popular actress who has worked in some popular television shows and a few films.
Avneet’s fan page on Instagram shared a photo of her, in which she wore a light green top and a black skirt, which gained a lot of likes and comments from her fans. However, many fans observed a like from Kohli’s official Instagram profile on that post.
As a result, many fans were surprised by the incident and also made jokes towards Kohli regarding the matter. While some fans questioned Kohli over the same in the comments, others joked his son Akaay must have done it mistakenly.

No intent behind liking Avneet Kaur’s photo, says Virat Kohli
Following the incident, former Indian captain Virat Kohli has issued a clarification over the matter. The former Indian skipper issued a clarification through a story on his official Instagram profile on Friday. He informed that it happened due to an algorithm glitch on the platform when he tried to clear his feed. He also added that there was no intention behind doing it.
“I’d like [to] clarify that while clearing my feed, it appears the algorithm may have mistakenly registered an interaction. There are absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made. Thank you for your understanding,” the 36-year-old wrote on his Instagram story.

Meanwhile, Kohli is currently playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. The RCB opener has showcased an impeccable form in the season. He has slammed 443 runs in 10 games at an average of 63.29 and a strike rate of 138.87.
The right-handed batsman has also slammed six half-centuries in the season. He is the leading run-getter for RCB and among the top five highest run-getters in the tournament. RCB also look like one of the favourites to make it to the playoffs.
