Virat Kohli deserves to win the IPL trophy, says Suresh Raina

Virat Kohli is yet to lay his hands on the IPL trophy.
As the IPL 2024 season is nearing the anticipation for the tournament opener between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 22 in Chepauk, Chennai. The IPL GC had unveiled the schedule of the IPL 17 for the first 15 days only due to a clash with general elections in India.
While CSK, the five-time IPL champions will defend their title, RCB are yet to win an IPL title. They have been finalists three times, with Virat Kohli captaining two times in the summit clash. But every time they fell short of winning the trophy.
In 2009, RCB lost the final to the now-defunct Deccan Chargers before losing the title decider against the Chennai Super Kings two years later. Virat Kohli succeeded Daniel Vettori as the franchise’s captain in 2013, however, the team failed to win its first IPL title.
In 2016, the right-handed batsman had probably the best season by an individual in the competition’s history, but it was insufficient to propel his team to victory. RCB made it to the final, but they were once again on the losing end of the result when SRH won the title.
Virat Kohli has given his heart and soul to RCB: Suresh Raina
Virat Kohli is one of the most decorated batters in IPL history, but he is yet to win a trophy. Suresh Raina believes his former India teammate should win the title at least once. Suresh Raina, who won numerous IPL titles with the Chennai Super Kings, believes Virat Kohli has given his ‘heart and everything to RCB’ and deserves to win the trophy.
“Virat Kohli deserves to win the IPL Trophy. He has done incredibly well for RCB over the years, he gives his heart and soul to RCB. So I think he’s deserves to win IPL Trophy,” Suresh Raina told TOI.
Kohli is currently the leading run-scorer of the IPL. In 237 games so far, he has scored 7263 runs with the help of a record seven centuries and 50 half-centuries.
