Virat Kohli hit a sluggish half-century in MI vs RCB clash of IPL 2026.
Virat Kohli had a tough outing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
The pitch looked perfect for batting. Other RCB players made full use of it. Phil Salt played a brilliant knock of 78 runs. Rajat Patidar also impressed with a quick 53. Both batters scored at a very high strike rate.
However, Kohli could not find his rhythm. He scored 50 runs but took 37 balls to reach the mark. His strike rate was much lower as compared to his teammates. The former RCB captain looked frustrated during his innings as he could not accelerate as expected on a flat track.

However, the bigger concern for RCB came after this moment. During the match, commentator Simon Doull revealed that Virat Kohli suffered a lower ankle injury. This update worried fans and the team management.
Former India head coach Ravi Shastri also mentioned on air that Kohli is not in his best health today. This could explain his struggle with timing and movement. RCB’s greatest batter, Kohli, was seen resting in the dressing room during the second innings, raising further concerns on the intensity of his injury.
Kohli’s innings ended in the 15th over when he was dismissed by the MI skipper, Hardik Pandya. After getting out, Kohli showed visible anger. He threw his gloves and helmet in disappointment. He was clearly unhappy with his performance.
The star batter did not celebrate his half-century. This showed how disappointed he was with his slow scoring. On a pitch where others were scoring quickly, Kohli failed to dominate.
Despite Kohli’s issues, RCB posted a huge total of 240 runs. Still, his injury could be a big setback for the team if it continues going forward in the tournament.
