Virat Kohli smacked 37 runs in 28 balls against Bangladesh in Antigua.
Superstar India batsman Virat Kohli gave signs of returning to his best during his knock against Bangladesh on Saturday at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua in the Super 8 clash.
After a terrible start to his ICC T20 World Cup 2024 campaign, the right-handed opener scored 37 runs off 28 balls, walloping three sixes and a four in his entertaining knock; Kohli had managed only 29 runs in his previous four knocks in this competition.
On a good surface in Antigua, Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma launched the attack straightaway by collecting 23 runs from the first two overs, which included a six from Kohli against Shakib Al Hasan. Kohli ended the powerplay with a six off Mustafizur Rahman and took India over 50 runs.
An over later, he tonked spinner Rishad Hossain down the ground for this third maximum. In the next over, however, he was bowled by pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib when he missed a straight delivery after skipping down the pitch and trying to muscle the ball.

With this knock of 37 runs against Bangladesh, Kohli became the first-ever batsman to reach the 3000 runs landmark in the ODI and T20 World Cups combined.
In 67 innings in these two competitions, Kohli has amassed 3002 runs at an average of 61. He’s notched up five centuries and 26 half-centuries.
Behind Kohli on this list are Rohit Sharma (2637 runs), David Warner (2502 runs), Sachin Tendulkar (2278 runs) and Kumar Sangakkara (2193 runs).
It is also to be noted that Kohli is the highest run-getter at Men’s T20 World Cups and second highest run-scorer at Men’s ODI World Cups.
