Kohli was last seen in action in the IPL 2026 final.

Virat Kohli is making steady progress in his recovery from the right hamstring injury that he sustained during the IPL 2026 final, where his 75 not out against the Gujarat Titans helped Royal Challengers Bengaluru clinch their second title.

The 37-year-old has been evaluated by specialists at the Centre of Excellence in London following the injury and has since been working through the initial phase of a structured rehabilitation program. Now, the date of his fitness test has been revealed in a report.

According to Times of India journalist Gaurav Gupta, who broke the news on X, the medical team handed Kohli a rehab programme to continue his recovery before his return to the Indian team.

Gupta wrote on X on June 20, “Virat Kohli is progressing well following his right hamstring injury in the IPL. He was assessed by the CoE team in London and handed over the programme to continue in the initial phase of rehab. He will report to the CoE on June 22 for further re-evaluation & clearance.”

Virat Kohli might be fit for England series

India are scheduled to play three ODIs against England. These matches will be played on July 14, 16, and 19 at Birmingham, Cardiff, and Lord’s. The selectors will announce the squad after Kohli’s fitness test.

BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia recently broke that news to the media, and he said, “The selection committee meeting to pick India’s ODI squad for the England tour will be held in the next three to four days,” and this makes Kohli’s June 22 evaluation all the more significant.

Chief selector Ajit Agarkar has already hinted that the door remains open. Speaking after Kohli was ruled out of the Afghanistan series, Agarkar said, “It looks like he might be fit for that England one-day series. It’s not a definitive answer, so don’t hold me to it.”

Given that Kohli has scored 1,349 runs across 33 ODIs in England, which includes 12 fifties and a hundred, you suspect India will give him every possible opportunity to be on that plane.

When did Virat Kohli last play competitive cricket?

Virat Kohli’s last competitive cricket match was the 2026 IPL final on May 31, 2026, played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, where his 75 not out helped RCB defeat GT.
