[Watch] Virat Kohli hits bat on ground, throws dustbin in frustration after getting dismissed vs KKR

Virat Kohli was out caught and bowled by Harshit Rana in a controversial fashion.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batter Virat Kohli lost his cool in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 recent match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday after he was out controversially.

RCB took on KKR in a 222-run chase. Virat Kohli raced to 18 off the first six balls he faced, keeping RCB in contention at 27-0 after two overs of play.

Then Harshit Rana delivered a slow full toss. Kohli, standing beyond the crease, attempted to defend, but the ball took a leading edge and floated back to Rana. Kohli, who had been given out, was visibly upset and fumed off the ground.

Kohli claimed that the full-toss delivery was waist-high and thus should be deemed no ball. It was indeed waist-high when Kohli made contact with the delivery, but he faced the ball well outside the crease.

The official broadcasters later verified that the ruling was right. The ball would have passed through the popping crease 0.92m above ground level, which is lower than Kohli’s waist height (1.04m) in an upright posture.

Virat Kohli risks reprimand after hitting dustbin on way to the pavilion after the controversial dismissal

Virat Kohli was visibly upset and walked back to the pavilion hurling a mouthful after a sparky discussion with the umpire. Kohli was later seen hitting his bat on the ground on his way into the pavilion before furiously smashing the dustbin to the ground with his gloves.

RCB lost the game to KKR in a nail-biting thriller by one run. Will Jacks and Rajat Patidar made half-centuries, while Suyash Prabhudessai and Dinesh Karthik kept RCB in the hunt of the chase. Even Karn Sharma hit three sixes to Mitchell Starc in the last over while chasing 21 runs for the fun, but in the end, the last batter was run out going for the second run which would’ve tied the match.
