Virat Kohli averages only 28 in five tests this year.

Former India captain Virat Kohli’s inconsistent run in test cricket continues as he was dismissed for only one run in India’s first innings of the Pune test against New Zealand.

Kohli had shown signs of returning to his best in the longest format in his second innings in the first IND vs NZ test in Bengaluru by scoring 70 solid runs. However, the right-hander couldn’t carry on the momentum from Bengaluru to Pune as he got out to Mitchell Santner while playing a sweep shot, missing a full toss!

It was quite an ugly and shocking dismissal as the ball was not threatening at all. It was loopy and landed right near the boots of Kohli, who played a hack across the line.

He missed the ball completely and it crashed into the stumps. Virat Kohli walked back with a disappointed look, and the viewers couldn’t believe what they had just seen.

This has been a disappointing year for Kohli in test cricket. In nine innings across five tests so far, he is averaging only 28 with one half-century to his name. This dip in form and numbers is surprising considering he averaged an impressive 55 in 2023.

Fans were left stunned as Kohli got out to a full toss in Pune and his dismal rut in test cricket continued.

Check out the reactions of fans after Virat Kohli’s low score in the first innings of the IND vs NZ 2nd test in Pune:

Meanwhile, India have been left struggling at 70/4 in reply to New Zealand’s first innings total of 259. Washington Sundar’s seven-wicket haul helped the hosts restrict New Zealand to 259, but that total is now proving to be daunting as India have lost their fourth wicket with only 70 runs on the board.
