Virat Kohli scored 18 runs with one four and two sixes.
Virat Kohli was not a happy man in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday. This match is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 21, 2024.
RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to field. RCB made three changes to their XI with Mohammed Siraj, Karn Sharma, and Cameron Green coming into the playing XI. KKR, on the other hand, came in with the same playing XI as their last match.
This match is extremely important for the RCB as they came into this match after losing six out of seven games they have played this season. Phil Salt gave KKR a flying start in this innings, scoring 48 in 14 balls with seven fours and three sixes. Captain Shreyas Iyer scored 50 runs in 36 overs, while Rinku Singh (24), Andre Russell (27*), and Ramandeep Singh (24*) helped KKR to 222/6.
Virat Kohli fumes after a controversial dismissal ends his knock
Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis started the RCB innings in style. Particularly Kohli, who has been in good form. Kohli, with 361 runs in seven innings, is at the top of the Orange Cap leaderboard. Despite his team having lost six of their seven matches before this encounter, he has had a dream run with the bat.
He took the attack to Harshit Rana in the first over, hitting him for multiple boundaries. However, in his second over, Rana had the last laugh. Rana bowled a high full toss which surprised Kohli, whose attempt to awkwardly play it, resulted in a return catch to the KKR bowler.
However, the height of the ball was contentious and with the on-field umpire giving it out, Kohli immediately took the DRS review. The TV umpire reviewed the dismissal and then compared the height of the ball to waist height of Kohli and found that the ball had dipped enough for it to be called a fair delivery.
The TV umpire gave him out and this left Virat Kohli fuming and he had an animated discussion with the on-field umpire, along with captain Du Plessis. But Kohli had to walk back for 18 runs in 7 balls.
