Virat Kohli scripts history! Goes past Australian great to register highest batting average in List A cricket

Virat Kohli scored a 77-run knock in the clash against Gujarat in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
Indian Cricket Team batter Virat Kohli continued his stunning form in his second game for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. On Friday, December 26, Delhi are clashing with Gujarat in the round 2 of the domestic one-day tournament at the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Centre of Excellence Ground 1, Bengaluru.
After Delhi were asked to bat first by Gujarat, Kohli smacked the opposition bowlers all over the park. Batting at number three, he scored 77 runs off 61 deliveries and his innings was laced with 13 boundaries and one six.
After Delhi openers Priyansh Arya and Arpit Rana got out cheaply, Kohli took the onus to himself, rescuing Delhi from early blows. He was eventually dismissed by spinner Vishal Jayswal as the got stumped by in the 22nd over.

With his half-century against Gujarat, Kohli now holds the record for the highest batting average in List A Cricket. Kohli now has a batting average of 57.87 and has overtaken former Australian batter Mitchel Bevan (57.86).

Meanwhile, Kohli showed an impeccable batting form in the previous game against Andhra Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26, smacking 131 runs off 101 deliveries. With his marvellous ton, he drove Delhi to victory by four wickets in the 299-run chase.
The former Indian captain also rocked the field in the previous ODI series against South Africa earlier this month. With two centuries and one fifty across three games, he won the Player of the Series award and played a crucial role in India’s 2-1 victory in the campaign.
