Virat Kohli announced his retirement from T20I cricket after winning ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Virat Kohli is currently part of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 and showed an amazing performance in the opening game for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). Kohli, who struggled to grab any IPL title for RCB during his stint as captain, will aim for another try under the new skipper Rajat Patidar.
However, along with IPL, the former India skipper is also focussed on his next goal for Team India. During a recent show, he revealed his plan for Team India – winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027.
Maybe try to win the next World Cup 2027: Kohli
During a recent show, the Indian batter revealed that he will try his best to win the ICC ODI World Cup 2027. When the show host asked him about his next plan for Team India, he said, “The Next Big Step? I Don’t Know. Maybe Try To Win The Next World Cup 2027.”
The video of the moment went viral on social media and Kohli fans started sharing the video on micro-blogging website X (formerly Twitter). Have a look at the video below.
India have won the last two ICC white-ball trophies
Notably, the ICC ODI World Cup 2027 will be played in South Africa. Recently, India won the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 by defeating New Zealand in the final. Before that, the Rohit Sharma-led side won the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 by crushing South Africa in a nail-biting final.
The next ICC white-ball tournament will be the ICC T20 World Cup set to be played in 2026.
India lost the last ODI World Cup in 2023 by losing the final against Australia. India were the favourites to win the title and won all the group stage games convincingly. However, the Men-in-Blue failed to crush the Aussies in the climax, and the result shocked the entire Indian cricketing community.
Virat Kohli retired from T20I cricket last year
However, India made a comeback seven months later in June 2024 by winning the ICC T20 World Cup. Earlier, this year, they made it two in two by stealing the Champions Trophy 2025 as well. Shockingly, Kohli and Rohit Sharma announced retirement from T20I cricket after winning ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
Hence, the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027 is going to be a giant tournament for both the batting legends. At the moment, Kohli is busy with IPL 2025 and will be part of RCB’s forthcoming clash against GT on Wednesday, April 2.
