"Hope India don't pick..": Why Glenn Maxwell doesn't want Virat Kohli to be included in T20 WC 2024 squad

However, there have been some talks about his conservative approach and low strike rate, which have raised some questions about his place in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.

Australian and RCB all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who is the teammate of Virat Kohli in the IPL, has reacted to Virat’s place in the upcoming ICC event. He has termed the former RCB captain the “most clutch player” that he has played against and also joked that India shouldn’t pick him in the T20 World Cup. In an interview with ESPN’s Around the Wicket programme, Maxwell praised Virat.

Maxi also pointed out Virat’s innings against Australia in the 2016 T20 World Cup as his best innings. The all-rounder said, “His awareness of what he needs to do to win the game is just phenomenal. I hope India do not pick him because it will be great to not come up against him.”

Furthermore, he also said that India have some brilliant players coming to the rank, it is hard to make in the team, and you need fire when you are playing for India. The former Indian captain is the leading run-scorer in T20Is with 4037 runs. Meanwhile, Virat’s numbers in the ICC T20 World Cup stand apart from other batters. 1141 runs in Virat’s career have come in the T20 World Cup, which speaks volume about him.
