Virat Kohli has played three IPL finals till date.
Indian cricketer Virat Kohli is undoubtedly one of the greatest batsmen in the Indian Premier League (IPL). The right-handed batsman is the highest run-scorer in the tournament history with over 8600 runs. Kohli has also slammed the most number of half-centuries (63) and centuries (8) in the tournament.
He has been part of the IPL since the inaugural edition in 2008. Kohli was roped in by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) before the inaugural season, and the franchise has retained him over the years. Kohli also led the side for nine seasons from 2013 to 2021.
Rajat Patidar is the captain of RCB in IPL 2025. The three-time runners-up are set to clash with Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3. Kohli is the opener for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2025. He has done a marvellous job to help his side reach the final.
Kohli is the highest run-scorer for his team with 614 runs in 14 games. He has a wonderful average of 55.82 and a strike rate of 146.53. The RCB opener has stormed eight half-centuries in the season with a top knock of an unbeaten 73 runs.
Interestingly, RCB have reached an IPL final for the fourth time. They also reached the finals in the 2009, 2011, and 2016 seasons; however, they lost the encounters and finished as runners-up. Moreover, Kohli was also part of the team in all those games. As the RCB stalwart is set to play another final in the tournament, below is Virat Kohli’s record in IPL finals over the years.
Virat Kohli’s record in IPL finals
Kohli played his first IPL final with RCB in the 2009 edition against now-defunct Deccan Chargers. Batting in the middle-order, Kohli got out cheaply for just seven runs as RCB lost the clash. Later, he batted at No. 3 in the IPL 2011 final against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
He slammed 35 runs in a losing cause. In the 2016 season final against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), he scored a brilliant half-century of 54 runs as the captain of the side. However, they lost the match by a thin margin of eight runs. Overall, Kohli has scored 96 runs in three finals at an average of 32.0.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli will leave no stones unturned to power RCB to a victory in IPL 2025 final. He has already been on the losing end in IPL finals on three occasions. Since he has been in a wonderful form in IPL 2025, he is expected to come up with another good show in the ultimate clash. Kohli is the fifth-highest run-scorer in the league currently.
