DDCA has added Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant to the list of probable players to play for Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
The Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) has added Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant to the list of probable players for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26. The list also comprises many players who are part of the state team in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
Last month, Kohli and Rohit Sharma were asked by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to play in the one-day domestic tournament Vijay Hazare Trophy to be in contention to represent India in ODIs. Recently, Kohli grabbed the limelight with his performance in the ODI campaign against South Africa, winning Player of the Series with his two centuries and one half-century across three games.
On the other hand, Pant featured in the test series against South Africa last month, where he struggled to score runs. Under his captaincy in the second test, India faced a humiliating defeat by 408 runs and a whitewash in the two-match series. Pant returned to the test series after recovering from a foot injury he sustained in the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025 in July.
He was also part of the ODI series against South Africa but didn’t get an opportunity to play with India preferring Ruturaj Gaikwad and Tilak Varma over him in the XI.
Virat Kohli informs DDCA that he will be available for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26

Last week, Kohli had informed DDCA that he would be available to play in Vijay Hazare Trophy.
“Virat Kohli has confirmed to the DDCA today that he will play the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Though he has nothing to prove it shows that he still retains passion for the game. His recent hundred against South Africa shows he is still one of the best players in the world. Him playing the domestic tournament will be a motivation for the youngsters,” the Indian Express quoted DDCA secretary Ashok Sharma as saying.
Notably, Kohli is only active in the 50-over format following his retirement from tests earlier this year. Last year, he pulled the curtains down on his T20I career. His next focus is to play for the Men in Blue in ICC Cricket World Cup 2027, scheduled to be hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia.
With his impeccable batting show against the Proteas, Kohli has jumped to the second spot in the ICC rankings for ODI batters. Meanwhile, Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 will commence on December 24, with Delhi playing their opening game against Andhra Pradesh. They are placed in Group D.
