Virat Kohli managed only five runs in the first innings of the Perth test.
After their horror batting display on the first day of the Perth test, India turned the game towards their side on the second day. India started the much anticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 on a bad note managing just 150 runs in their first innings.
Despite putting a small total on the board, the Indian bowling attack led by Jasprit Bumrah staged a dramatic comeback bundling out Australia for just 104 runs.
The second day of the Perth test saw Jasprit Bumrah, KL Rahul, and Yashasvi Jaiswal etch their names in the history books. While Bumrah equalled Kapil Dev’s Indian record of registering most test fifers in SENA countries (7 fifers), KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal defied history by registering India’s first 100-run opening partnership in Australia since 2004.
A special moment unfolded after the end of play on Day 2. Virat Kohli rushed onto the field to practice and saluted KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal as they headed back to the dressing room.

India will look to continue the momentum to take the lead past the 400-run mark before they can have a short bowling burst against the Australian top order in the last session.
