Unhappy with Prithvi Shaw's batting, Virender Sehwag suggests the batter to learn from Shubman Gill
Virender Sehwag disappointed with Delhi Capitals opener Prithvi Shaw's batting in the IPL 2023.
In IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals failed to bag any points from their two games. After losing to Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals lost to defending champions Gujarat Titans as well. Delhi’s batting has been really poor in both of the games. Indian opener looking for a comeback in the national team, Prithvi Shaw has failed to cross the 20 runs mark in both innings. Shaw got out playing recklessly on both occasions. There are huge expectations from Prithvi Shaw. He had a great run in the domestic circuit but has been silent since day one of the Indian Premier League. Former Cricketer Virender Sehwag is also disappointed with Shaw’s batting in the league so far.
Virender Sehwag's suggestion to Prithvi Shaw
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag has drawn a comparison between Shaw’s under-19 teammate Shubhman Gill and Shaw himself. Sehwag has said, “He has been dismissed playing those kinds of shots so many times… but he should learn from his mistakes, Right?” Shaw got out playing a slog across the stumps to pacer Md. Shami against Gujarat Titans on Tuesday. Sehwag said, “Look at Gill, who played under 19 with Shaw and is currently playing in all three formats for India. Shaw needs to make the most of this IPL platform and score big runs”. Gill had been a consistent performer for the Titans.
Huge Competition for a spot in Indian Cricket Team
There is a huge competition among players for a spot in the Indian Cricket team. Ruturaj Gaikwad has picked up momentum in this IPL with his two back to back half-centuries. Along with him, there are a lot of players like Ishan Kishan, Shubhman Gill, Ruturaj Gaikwad, and Yashaswi Jaiswal, continuously fighting for a spot as an opener in the Indian Cricket team. After a magnificent season in Ranji Trophy and other tournaments in the domestic circuit, there were a huge amount of expectations from Shaw. He needs to stop playing over-aggressive cricket to get back to his rhythm once again.
After losing the first two games Delhi Capitals will be traveling to Guwahati for their next encounter. They will face IPL 2023’s most formidable side Rajasthan Royals. This will again test the game and strategies of the Capitals. Delhi will play Rajasthan on 8th April.
