"Will be backing you…" Sir Vivian Richards posts a special message for Indian Cricket Team
Sir Vivian Richards acknowledged Team India’s brilliant run at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
The Indian cricket team are all set to face mighty Australia in the Super 8 (Group 1) clash at the Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia, on June 24 in the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Ahead of the high-voltage encounter, legendary cricketer Sir Vivian Richards has won hearts of many cricket fans by sharing a special post with a heartfelt message for the Men in Blue.
The Indian cricket team and South Africa are the only two sides that are still undefeated in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. The Men in Blue started their campaign in the United States of America, where they played all their group stage matches.
In the USA leg, the Rohit Sharma-led side played four games and won three of them. Their final group stage fixture against Canada was abandoned due to rain, and India finished at the top with seven points in Group A. The Men in Blue also qualified for the next round of the ongoing global event.
The Indian side then moved to the Caribbean Islands to play their remaining T20 World Cup 2024 matches. In Super 8, the Men in Blue have played two games till now and won both of them. The Rohit-led side are still undefeated and on the verge of qualifying for the semi-finals of the ongoing marquee tournament.
Sir Vivian Richards shares a heartwarming message for India
After defeating Bangladesh by 50 runs to extend their winning streak in the ongoing tournament, the fielding medal ceremony took place, where team India invited none other than former West Indies legendary cricketer Sir Vivian Richards to give the medal to the best fielder of the match.
The legendary cricketer presented the award to world No. 1 T20I batter Suryakumar Yadav for his brilliant effort in the field during the Bangladesh match on June 22.
Soon after presenting the medal to Suryakumar, Richards also delivered a speech to acknowledge India’s brilliant run so far in the T20 World Cup 2024. The legendary batter also posted a picture on Instagram and wrote a heartfelt message for the Men in Blue.
“Team India, you have a good thing going. If the guys in maroon don’t get it done, I will be backing you.Great to see Pant back on the field. #T20WorldCup,” Sir Vivian Richards wrote on his Instagram.
